FAQ About Laser Therapy

 lasertherapyapplication1.pngHow does laser therapy work?

Laser energy is absorbed by cells, it increases local circulation and draws oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.

When is Laser treatment beneficial?

Pain management – this is a non-invasive therapy used instead of drug therapy for the treatment of chronic pain.

Wound healing – it can significantly reduce healing time, while restoring the quality of tissue, traumatic. Skin injuries and surgical incisions benefit greatly from laser intervention.

Rehabilitation – bone and muscle injuries and orthopaedic surgeries often require additional rehabilitation solutions. Laser therapy provided non-invasive remedies for quicker recovery.

Dermatology - sores that are hard to cure, including:diabetic sores, burns, acne, and herpes simplex.

How many treatments does it take?

This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For many acute conditions 5-8 treatments may be sufficient. Chronic conditions may require a few series of 5-8 treatments. Some conditions may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.

How long does each treatment take?

A typical session time is 6-20 minutes, depending on the size and of the area being treated and depth of the target tissue.

How long before the results are felt?

It can take between three days and three weeks to feel a change for the better. It varies from person to person, and depends on the severity of the issue. The majority respond to treatment positively in the first few days, but in some cases, like inflammation, a longer time and more patience is required. Most people start to feel better after the first or the second treatment.

Regarding the dosage: 6–8 minutes on each treatment point, twice a day should suffice to create the desired effect. In the information card that you will receive with the Laser device, there are specific instructions for every type of treatment

Are there any side effects or associated risks?

During more than twenty years of use by healthcare providers all over the world, very few side effects have ever been reported. Occasionally some old injuries or pain syndromes may feel aggravated for a few days, as the healing response is more active after treatment.

Why doesn’t my doctor recommend to use laser therapy device for treatment?

Some of the physicians in the field are acquainted with the innovative Laser therapy  technology and are happy to recommend it. The technology has been in use for over 50 years, in a number of areas of medicine, veterinary and dermatology.  There are health specialists who are less up-to-date, or who will prefer to treat a patient with the “traditional” methods they studied – oral or injected medications, physiotherapy, and surgery. Also, some of them may not see any reason to “outsource” treatment to your “self-treatment” with laser therapy devices.
